When does osteopathy help,

and in which indication areas can the osteopath help me?

Osteopathy is, according to its self-understanding, a preventive medicine which discovers and treats functional disorders before they show symptoms of disease.

However, osteopathy has also proved its worth in many other respects, for example in the case of screaming and spitting children, who often show asymmetries of the skull or the upper cervical spine. As the bones of small children are still very soft and growing, they respond very well to osteopathic therapy.

The example of the torticollis shows the holistic approach of osteopathy. In contrast to orthodox medicine, which usually prescribes only a neck roll and operates in case of failure, osteopathy focuses on the whole organism.

The shifted neck also affects the function of the meninges, which are connected to the coccyx via the spinal canal. This results in twisting of the hip, which in turn can lead to a dislocation of the hip joint with displacement of the head of the femur.

Even heavy births or those with a so-called suction cup can leave their mark and thus lead to malfunctions. The osteopath will therefore not only apply the osteotomy locally to the skull, but to more distant points, thus restoring the balance and preventing dysfunctions later on.

In addition to chronic pain in the spine and peripheral joints (shoulder, elbow, hand and finger joints, hip, knee, foot and toe joints), the range of indications for osteopathy also includes whiplash, migraine, dizziness, tinnitus, irritable bladder, irritable bowel, premenstrual syndrome and internal scars. For a variety of ailments that are accompanied by functional complaints, the osteopath can provide concomitant treatment and thus accelerate or enable the healing of structural damage (such as cartilage damage).

Listing of indication areas

In the following list you can see when osteopathy is applied. Most of the points fall unrestrictedly into the field of activity of an osteopath.
In some points, such as sinusitis (inflammation of the paranasal sinuses), it is known that it is primarily caused by an infection. If, however, the sinusitis has become firmly established despite treatment, possibly lasting for weeks or months, the osteopath can often help.
If you are not quite sure whether osteopathy can help you with your symptoms, you are welcome to contact me and I will be able to tell you in which form I can treat you.
